The Axarquia of Malaga is one of the 9 regions that make it up. It is characterised by its beautiful coastal towns <\/strong> that are reminiscent of its Moorish heritage, located in a key and privileged location, between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of Malaga, thus creating a synergy that makes the Axarquia in a place where what you have to see in the province of Malaga<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will then join us on a journey through the most beautiful, surprising and charming corners of the region along these 5 routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Mudejar Route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The region of La Axarqu\u00eda was one of the last territories conquered by the Christians in the Al-Andalus period, which is why we can still appreciate the vestiges of this period as if it were only a few years ago. Specifically, the Mudejar route is the most appropriate if you want to learn about the Arab past of the Axarquia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will travel through time and discover the Moorish roots of the region on a 40 km route through the villages of Salares, Arenas, Canillas de Aceituno, and \u00c1rchez. All these villages are located at the foot of the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, a stunning natural landscape that combines the blue of the Mediterranean Sea with the intense green of its valleys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Sun and avocado route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This second route of 75 kilometres is made up of the villages of Macharaviaya, Benamocarra, Iznate, V\u00e9lez-M\u00e1laga and Benamargosa. It owes its name to the fact that a large percentage of avocados and other tropical fruits are grown in this area thanks to its fertile land, and it also offers fine sandy beaches where you can enjoy the intense southern sun. If you take this route you cannot miss the Cueva del Tesoro, the only sea cave you can visit in the whole of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sun and avocado route is closest to the capital, where you can find the famous Cambara Restaurant<\/a> where you can recharge your batteries with the most delicious rice in town before starting your adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Sultana route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This 62-kilometre route takes you through the vineyards, tasting the exquisite local wines and savouring the delicious, all-natural sultanas from the land. It is advisable to do it in September, as this is when the Ajoblanco festival begins in Alm\u00e1char and the Raisin Festival in El Borge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Sun and Wine Route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is the ideal route for wine lovers, you will discover the most traditional wine villages in Andalusia such as Frigiliana or C\u00f3mpeta. You will also be able to taste these wines in their beautiful hidden beaches and coves<\/a><\/strong>, Don't forget to visit the Nerja Cave!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Oil and Mountains Route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Also known as the route of the mountain villages, it stands out for its impressive changes of environment and landscapes and for its exquisite gastronomy and low prices. If you do this route you must visit the reservoir of La Vi\u00f1uela, known for its spectacular beauty. Don't forget your camera!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will tour the villages of Vi\u00f1uela, Periana, Alcauc\u00edn, Alfarnate, and Alfarnatejo where you will taste all kinds of local products and above all, one of the best olive oils in Andaluc\u00eda, made in the oldest and most traditional way.
